LAST CALL - 11/9 - Ukiah - Rest and Recovery Workshop

As we move into the darker autumnal time, post election, I invite locals to cultivate some well deserved self care. Personally at this time of the year, the yearning for yoga practice generally and restorative specifically is heightened. And it’s especially sweet to share this type of practice together.
Owning our weariness is something to be honored - See the poem below….

Rest and Recovery - A Post Election Release
Saturday, 11/9 12pm - 3pm Grace Hudson Meeting Room, Ukiah

Whether you were involved or not in the lead up to the election, whatever your relationship with the outcome, we are all effected in the collective consciousness and if you are like most people I know, exhausted. This situation also coincides with moving into the darkest time of the year and to a natural unwinding and letting go of our day to day busy-ness and angst.

This session is open to everyone at whatever level you are at. We will begin with one hour of simple - mainly supine and seated stretching, breathing and aligning - poses, accessible to all (as long as you can get onto and up from the floor). After a short break, there will be a few minutes discussion about how we can, on a daily basis, use whatever limited time we have to practice and bring the nervous system into relative balance. This will be followed by a longer restorative practice and a final heart meditation.

Participants need to be willing to bring a yoga mat, 2 regular bed pillows, and a blanket. Any other other props are optional and may be helpful. Make sure you have not just eaten but you will be OK to sustain yourself through the usual lunchtime; feel free to bring a drink/snack for the short break. Comfortable clothing is important also - we do not need our spandex for this workshop!

NOTE: If you are financially challenged currently, please do not let that be a reason not to attend a workshop/class. You are welcome - if this is your situation - to show up and make any donation at any level thats appropriate for you. Just let me know you are coming by email.

Fee: $40 pre 11/1 - $50 post 11/1 Registration through the City of Ukiah at this link: https://ukiah.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=3207

Sacred Exhaustion

By Jeff Foster - https://www.aspeninstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Foster_Sacred-Exhaustion.pdf

Your tiredness has dignity to it! Do not rush to pathologise it, or push it away, for it may con-

tain great intelligence, even medicine.

You have been on a long journey from the stars, friend. Bow before your tiredness now; do not

fight it any longer.

There is no shame in admitting that you cannot go on. Even the courageous need to rest.

For a great journey lies ahead. And you will need all of your resources.

Come, sit by the fire of Presence. Let the body unwind; drop into the silence here. Forget about

tomorrow, let go of the journey to come, and sink into this evening's warmth.

Every great adventure is fueled by rest at its heart.

Your tiredness is noble, friend, and contains healing power... if you would only listen...
